This can plunder your lan connections you have in your home or watever network you have running. i just had to re trace all my steps to find this page again so i can fix this anoying problem. So be warned. Im not to sure what stuffed it up but i think it has to do with ""DISABLE UNNECESSARY SERVICES"" section (ya right unnecessary)...
Anyway could of just been my comp. But shit this was a pain. |

One of the best things about the Internet is getting ALL and ANY tech ADVICE and other HELP for FREE and thanks to the power of the search engines providing different resources. Some of the sites offer similar information; others are a duplicate from few other sites. So what? I find that there are more whiners over the internet than there contributors of knowledge.
As far as "copy and paste" or "cut and past", it's an easy, efficient, popular, simple method of reproducing text or other data from a source to a destination. Who has not used this method please STAND UP and CAST THE FIRST STONE?
As far as the article is concerned, thank you. It's very helpful especially for people who are running a much older computer version, those who can't afford to buy all the expensive gadgets, software, those who can't afford DSL connection etc. It's a cool "work around information" without the need to spend unnecessary $$$.
P.S.
I like the description of this page - Free shared knowledge/information space
created for people like you by people like you! ;)

| some of these "tips" helped..but the title.. "Make Your Windows Fast As Never Before!" was a little misleading..for if you really want your PC to be fast as never before...just buy a new one or upgrade your memory to like double or tripple even of what you have |

"First, /prefetch:1 does not, I repeat, does not load programs faster."
Fair enough, and then:
"The Prefetch folder is also used by the Windows defrag app to place commonly used programs on the outside of the drive for quicker access."
Quicker certainly sounds like faster to me. |

| These tips are all just stolen from other sources, which is, well, normal... but jeez, he could have at least changed the wording of some of them. Kinda sad, really. |

Did you even bother trying any of these or did you just cut and paste from the other thousand or so "Make XP Faster" lists floating on the net?
First, /prefetch:1 does not, I repeat, does not load programs faster. It is used to create a hash in the Prefetch folder for each mode of a program such as Windows Media Player.
Second, Prefetch is not designed to speed up program launching by preloading programs in memory. It is designed to tell Windows what files (dll and exe) are loaded and in what order whenever a user runs a program. Programs are not preloaded. Repeat after me: Programs are not preloaded. The Prefetch folder is also used by the Windows defrag app to place commonly used programs on the outside of the drive for quicker access. |
